The Journey to Simpler Living by Jeff Davidson

The Journey to Simpler Living is a book I have enjoyed and recommend. Jeff Davidson is a great author and has been very prolific. He is also a great speaker and a good dad!

"We have entered an age where the number of items that compete for our time
and attention speed toward us at a frightening pace," says author Jeff
Davidson, whose latest book, his 56th, Simpler Living: A Back to Basics
Guide to Cleaning, Furnishing, Storing, Decluttering, Streamlining,
Organizing, and More, has just been published.

"Anyone who holds a position of responsibility in sociey today, maintaining
a job, bringing up children, caring for the elderly, managing a household,
feels the pinch. It seems as if all of society has sped-up, and there are
surprisingly few comprehensive resources to turn to."

Against that backdrop, Davidson’s new book Simpler Living is a beacon in a
storm. Across 452 pages with more than 950 photos, Davidson takes readers on
the journey from complexity back to simplicity, offering three global-type
observational chapters, Davidson then spends the rest of the book, 21
chapters, on how an individual can achieve a greater sense of simplicity in
every room in his room, while traveling, at leisure, at work, in maintaining
nutrition, and in the overall quest for a balanced life.

Simpler Living represents the rarest of books published today, it is a
comprehensive reference book and at the same time a beautifully bound coffee
table gift book. The first time someone encounters it, invariably, there is
oohing and aahing. Weighing nearly four pounds, the beautiful blue cover,
fully illustrated, promises a wonderful experience within. And, the reader
is not disappointed. Reviewers have universally proclaimed it to be a work
of art. Page after page beckons the reader with lively writing and
illustrative photos that support the text.

Davidson suggests not trying to read the book all the way through, as that
task would be enormous for anyone. In fact, he doesn’t necessarily even
suggest reading a chapter all the way through, but rather, flipping through
to those areas where the reader is facing complexity issues. For example, if
it is difficult for you to use the space in your bathroom for all of the
items that you need, Simpler Living has many, many suggestions. So, flip to
that chapter, begin examining the tips, and put one or two of them
immediately into action.

That way, you feel as if you have some control over that section of your
house, and by and by, the habit will take hold. Likewise, there are chapters
on the kitchen, the rec room, the den, the living room, the garage, and all
other areas of a household. Simpler Living also offers tips on simplifying
your nutrition, commuting and travel, leisure time activities, and much
more.

The book apparently has a universal theme. Three publishers in China are now
considering it for an English language version there, as 350 million Chinese
speak fluent English. Prospects also look good in Thailand, Korea, and in
this hemisphere, Brazil. If you’re interested in ordering Simpler Living, it’s

Mingling Maven Susan RoAne & THE Executive Speech Coach Patricia Fripp go to Comedy Talks. Comedy magician Robert Strong put together a three part series that was amazing. You can see me elbow Susan RoAne although she is not in the screen. She took time off frm a busy speaking schedule and I left the speech coaching clients behind. Everyone one needs to laugh. RoAne and I are always looking for techniques we can use and teach. Robert Strong explained "I always had so much fun in the Green Room with the legends of comedy I wanted to bring the experience to San Francisco audiences." Thank you Robert. If you do it again I will be there!

Professional Speaking Giant's Brush with Fame: A Tall Tale

Danny Cox, CPAE is a giant in the professional speaking world. Author of Leadership When the Heat’s On and known as the Sonic Boom Salesman. Danny has the ability to attract interesting friends. On Danny’s left is Big Dave Mattey who is an actor and stuntman who works in a lot of science fiction and monster movies. However, check his website. He has been in major movies including The Spy Next Door with Jackie Chan. He's 6' 10" tall. On Danny’s right is Sidney Wicks. Sidney is 6'8" and is in the UCLA basketball Hall of Fame and was an All-American. In Sidney’s career he played with the Portland Trail Blazers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and spent most of his career with the Boston Celtics.

Yes Danny is standing up. However, all his clients, audiences and members of our elite speaking group Speakers Roundtable know him as a big guy! That has nothing to do with size.

The photo was taken at the wedding of Vandy who is the daughter our friend Vonda Kay Van Dyke Scoates. Vonda was 1965 Miss America named on September 13, 1964. She had previously been Miss Arizona. She is unique among pageant winners in that she was and still is the only Miss America who was also Miss Congeniality. This year Vonda took THE Executive Speech Coach Patricia Fripp to one evening of the Miss American Pageant. I was amazed at so many beautiful young women with so much talent.

 

Forrest Gump is alive and well! Fripp's brush with fame!

Forrest Gump is alive and well! YOU can find him in convention halls, conference centers and as I did on Pier 39 in San Francisco. One thing you can take to the bank, no matter what the size of his audience he keeps them smiling and having fun.

OK! You are right Forrest Gump is a character in a movie. However, when you meet my new friend and National Speakers Association member Steve Weber you want to buy into the fantasy.

He has an amazing story about how he used his Gumption and parlayed his resemblance to Tom Hanks
(ever since Tom's Bosom Buddies days) into convincing Bubba Gumps restaurant chain to hire him to entertain their customers on the way in. We had lunch in the Bubba Gump restaurant in San Francisco. What a good job they do in carrying out the theme. Our server Chris Gewehr had not met Steve before. Chris had seen the movie 30 times BEFORE he was hired. He tried his best to stump Steve with movie trivia.

My brush with fame was amazing and fun.

I learned Steve Weber is a hot up and comer in my world of professional speaking.
You can sell an idea that leads to a new career is you have Gumption.
Bubba Gumps is a fun chain and theme their restaurants well. Food to great as well.
By the amount of people who went to Pier 39 that Sunday people are spending $.
If you go for lunch ask for server Chris Gewehr. Tell him Forrest and Fripp say "Hi!"

 

Carol Channing, Rich Little, Steve Rossi. Conversation at its best!

What an afternoon! San Francisco's Carol Channing, internationally acclaimed star of stage and screen, joins inimitable entertainer Rich Little, and hilarious stand-up comic and actor Steve Rossi.
Wow...what a show. They were all so happy to be together they were interviewing each other.
Robert Strong who is a star in his own right is the producer and it was a labor of love.
His parents flew in to support him and see the show. Great to see them so pround
The audience was so enthusiastic and frequently lept to their feet. It was so amazing to see these brilliant mature stars with so much energy. Carol is almost 90 and Steve 80. Rich is most likely in his early 70s. Very inspiring.
